|Macedonia Plays Leapfrog|
Macedonia, one of Europe’s youngest and smallest nations, will attempt to leapfrog its older, bigger and richer cousins when it rolls out FTTH later this year.
In keeping with recent developments it is once again the fixed line incumbent operator, Makedonski Telecom, that will make the investment. MakTel will roll out FTTH services to the whole of the Macedonian capital, Skopje, by the end of October 2008. Following that, it will focus on Macedonia’s other major cities including Bitola and Tetovo.
Macedonia is bounded by Greece to the south, Bulgaria to the east, Albania to the west and Serbia to the north. The county came into being in 1993.
