Where Will FTTH End? Researchers Prime 100 Gigabit Ethernet

The large and consistent incremental rises in FTTH uptake across Europe are necessitating the development of larger and larger capacity core carrier network technologies.

To meet the requirements of next generation Ethernet, a cross-industry research body called CELTIC (Cooperation for a sustained European Leadership in Telecommunications) is steamrolling its way toward the development of 100GE technologies.

Five sub-projects are taking different paths toward the end-game resolution; the next chapter for which should be known in December 2010.
