|FTTH Spices the Bombay Mix|
MTNL, the state-owned Indian network operator, has announced the country’s first multi-play and high definition TV service.
The service will be delivered over a new FTTH infrastructure. MTNL’s network, which was upgraded three years ago to an all-fibre core, provides services primarily to the geographies centred on New Delhi and Mumbai (once known as Bombay). The investment will place India’s telecoms infrastructure on the same trajectory as China, Singapore and Japan – although the latter has a significant lead.
