Russian operator TTK is planning to start a FTTH building project in 120 cities.
As the company is owned by RZD (the national long-distance railway operator) the project will benefit from the huge geographic reach of the Russian train system. TTK (formerly known as TransTeleCom) is best known for the terrestrial network link it operates along the route of the Trans-Siberian Railway.
As part of a retail business expansion, TTK is building upon an existing network presence in 37 cities. It plans to offer a range of services including telephony and Internet as well as HDTV, and will invest an initial €1.2bn.
