|Italians and Brits Differ in Broadband Outlook|
A new three-year strategy unveiled by Telecom Italia will target a new total of 1.5m IPTV subscribers by the end of 2011; an ambitious hike of over 1m from present levels. To achieve the growth, separate reports indicate that the telco is already trialing FTTH services of 100Mbps for commercial launch next year.
Meanwhile, in the UK, a government minister has questioned the necessity for ultra-high speed broadband at all. Speaking at a public event, Lord Carter - the Minister for Communications, Technology and Broadcasting – played down the significance of other countries in Europe being more advanced in next generation broadband rollouts.
