Verizon FiOS Targets 100Mbps Next Year

One of the world’s largest FTTH operators, Verizon, is planning to boost its massively popular FIOS service to make a 100Mbps option widely available in less than a year.  

The speed increases will be made possible by upgrades to passive network components, and the deployment of a new generation of FIOS home routers.  

The development is seen by many commentators as being partly in response to customer demand, and partly in order to extend competitive differentiation over rival cable services.
