Latvian national operator Lattelecom is set to preside over the fastest broadband services in Europe; set to hit speeds up to 500 Mbit/s by the end of 2009 and 10 Gbit/s at the culmination of its ‘Network of the Future’ strategy.
Pilot schemes extending to 30 apartment blocks in Latvia’s capital, Riga, will be underway within the month. Further deployments in Riga are planned to follow, as are services in a number of other Latvian cities. Customers will pay around the same as the currently do for DSL-based broadband services.
