|There Is Nothing Slow about Slovakia|
Slovakia is carving out its place as a driving force in the increasingly active Eastern European FTTH market. While FTTH penetration levels have not yet been large enough to warrant a place in the FTTH Council Global Ranking, Slovakia is making significant inroads as network builds and subscriber uptake gain momentum.
Slovak Telecom has now passed 220,000 homes (over 10% of the country’s total of 19m) and plans to boost that number further with its nationwide 10-city deployment. Meanwhile Orange Slovensko, a subsidiary of France Telecom, has built a network which also passes around 200,000 homes.
