|Belgium to Surf Super Fast?|
Belgium surfed closer to FTTH when the Minister for Business, Vincent Van Quickenborne unveiled the ‘SuperFastBelgium’ plan, which is designed to stimulate the deployment of optical fibre across the country.
The plan aims to help close the digital divide (35%of Belgian households currently has no internet connection) and significantly increase the Internet speeds available to Belgian surfers to over 100 Mbits per second.
The ‘SuperFastBelgium’ plan includes a number of concrete proposals that will stimulate the roll-out of fibre, such as a reduced VAT for operators planning fibre deployments.
This announcement comes during the build up to the country’s regional parliamentary elections. One to watch.
