|ARCEP Paves the Way …|
The French regulator, ARCEP, hopes to have found a way to ensure continued infrastructure competition, having announced its ruling on the vertical portion of in-building cabling this week.
The telecom watchdog ruled that more than one fibre-optic line could be installed in buildings in densely populated areas, in a move that many commentators state is paving the way for the roll-out of super high-speed internet services across the country.
According to the ruling, dense areas (covering 5 million homes) will fall within this sharing mandate, whilst outside of these dense areas there will be no such obligation.
