Fibrecity Demonstrates U.K.’s First Open Access Network at Bournemouth

Fibrecity, a U.K. venture owned by i3 Group, has started deploying FTTH connections to homes at coastal city Bournemouth.

Along with Scottish city Dundee it’s the first large-scale deployment for the company proposing ‘open network access’. The connected homes will be offered third party internet services in a later stage. While the roll-out is taking place, consumers can already get an impression of the services at a fully equipped Bournemouth home. Cost, effort and time for installing fibre will be minimized by using existing waste water ducts and sewers. Fibrecity uses deployment methods and technology from its sister venture H2O Networks.
