100 Megabits for 9 Euro per month in Hong-Kong

The Hong Kong Broadband Network’s tagline ‘Awesome speed. For everyone’ seems no exaggeration. The operator and wholly owned subsidiary of City Telecom (HK) is offering a symmetric 100 Mbps ultra-high-speed broadband service for only 99 Hong Kong Dollars. That’s no more than 13 USD or only 8,60 EUR per month.

The ‘bb100’ service is currently available for 1,62 million households or some two thirds of the Hong Kong territory. The 8,60 Euro promotion requires a 24 month contract, generated through a friends-get-friends action. HKBN claims having some 390.000 customers already on it’s broadband services, ranging from 25 Mbps up to 1000 Mbps. HKBN’s regular tariffs for 100Mbps symmetrical are around 25 USD or 17 EUR.
