|Sarkozy announces 2 billion euro investment in FTTH|
Out of the recently announced 60 billion euros public investment programme intended to raise France’s growth rate, 4.5 billion have been earmarked for the digital economy, including 750 million for the digitisation of the French cultural heritage.
2 billion euros will be invested in FTTH deployment, in an effort to ensure the country’s coverage with very high speed access networks. According to Sarkozy, the idea is to have a national roll-out scheme similar to the telephone deployment scheme implemented in the 1970’s.
